Definitely the pick of the “out of town” hotels, the El Casco Art Hotel is one of the top hotels in the region. As the name implies, the main theme of the hotel is based around art, which is featured in all the rooms and main areas. The rooms are opulent and luxurious and all feature superb views out to the lakeshore beyond. With excellent service, food and gardens, the El Casco is a better value option than the infamous Llao Llao down the road.

As the name suggests the El Casco Art Hotel has been founded on the principle of its art and, as such, there are 475 pieces of Argentinean sculpture and painting dotted throughout the property and grounds. All of this lends an air of refinement to all of the rooms and communal areas and it is a relaxing and ambient property.

Located approximately 10 mins out of Bariloche, the El Casco has uninterrupted views out across a small bay to the hills and lake. This is a truly great spot and, even though the road runs very close by, you do not notice it from the rooms and so feel like you are out in the wilderness.

If you are an art lover then this is the place for you, with contemporary and past Argentine artists surrounding you on the walls and in the furniture. It is an idea that has given them a good selling point and only adds to the décor…although they are, potentially, in danger of making the place feel too much like a gallery and not like a hotel (everything has a price tag on it!).

What we really like about the El Casco Art Hotel is that they really have made an effort to make the most of their view and so it is very relaxing just to sit in the room at the window looking out. On top of this, everything is up to the right standard befitting a modern 5 star and so, for those who would like to be in nature without having any of its discomforts, then this is probably the place to head for.

Great views throughout, superb service/food, refined ambience

In danger of feeling too like a gallery, expensive
