A few pointers on the dos and don'ts...

Fortunately, this is a fairly short section! The Argentina of today is one of Wifi systems and slick internal travel networks. The problems of developing countries no longer hamper this giant and, as such, the main issues to look out for are very similar to those in Europe or the United States.

There are very few animals that will do you any harm in Argentina. The only truly dangerous animal in either Patagonia or elsewhere is the puma, or American mountain lion. Ranging in size to the equivalent of a leopard, this cat is very suspicious of humans and so is rarely if ever spotted…but it is best not to try and stroke it if you are fortunate enough!

Other than this, due to a fairly dry and temperate climate in Argentina, there are few diseases that you need worry about. It is said that you are also ok to drink the water throughout the country. Being wary travelers, we would still recommend that you buy a big bottle of mineral water wherever you are.

From a safety point of view, like in any big city, it is worth keeping your wits about you when wandering around Buenos Aires and the other major cities in Argentina. Showing off things like an expensive camera or wristwatch always has the potential of attracting the wrong sort of attention. The main areas in Buenos Aires to keep alert are the main tourist hangouts such as Recoletta cemetery, Palermo Soho and, above all, the Boca district (here it is well worth having a guided tour for peace of mind).

Out in the wildlife areas of Argentina, there is very little to worry about as everyone is very friendly and generally looks after one another.
