A small and friendly hotel on the way out of town, the Solar de la Costa is a budget option in the area. Established for quite a few years now, we would suggest that the interiors could do with a bit of a facelift, but it is well positioned and just back from the front which allows for good views from some of the rooms.
Sitting around 10 minutes drive from the small village of Cachi, the Sala de Payogasta is a simple farmhouse that has been lovingly restored back to its original glory and is a great example of how generations have been living in this inhospitable environment.
Located in the small community of Chacras de Coria, the Robles de Besares is a small, private house and is very much a family affair. Features include a great garden along with large pool and simple gym. Staying in this area of town is a treat as it is possible to cycle out of the hotel to go and see many of the local vineyards.
Certainly the best of the properties around the Esteros, the Rincon del Socorro is loosely based around the concept of an estancia, with a series of buildings dispersed around the main building which has the dining area and relaxing areas.
The Posada Salentein is a small posada that is located not far from the Salentein winery and is owned by the same. They currently offer accommodation for up to 32 people in three main areas…two houses of 4 rooms and one larger and newer area with a further 8.
Located on the eastern side of the town, the Posada con los Angeles is an interesting hotel that features and small garden and comfortable rooms that suit for a short stay in the town. At around the same price as the Terrazas, but lacking a view, we think that this is a close second, but it is a good choice and in the top 3 hotels in the town at the moment.
Located right in the north of the city, next to the train to the clouds station, the Patios de Lerma provides simple accommodation with good facilities and service.
Certainly the pick of the accommodation in and around Cafayate, the Patios de Cafayate is a superb hotel that offers old world luxury with outstanding views, facilities and food. Located in its own working vineyard, you are given the feeling of total seclusion while being only a couple of minutes outside of the town.
Far and away the most impressive of the city hotels, the Park Hyatt Mendoza sits in pride of place right on the Plaza Independencia. Originally the Plaza Hotel, the hotel today is a clever combination of the new and the old. The facade of the old hotel has been maintained, with everything behind being modern and new.
The Parador del Angel is a small guesthouse, right in the heart of the Chacras de Coria region. It makes for a quirky and interesting place to spend a few nights while exploring the surrounding fields and vines. Owned by one of the top Argentinean artists and her husband artwork is a real feature of the decoration (which changes quite regularly!). A real treat of a retreat!
